The following actions were taken at the Village of Williamsburg meeting of trustees, Thursday, March 15.
•Sierra County Emergency Manager Donna Sanchez gave a presentation on the Disaster Mitigation Plan, which has been in the works for four years.
Sanchez said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Homeland Security have many requirements, incorporated into the plan, which determine the funding this area gets in emergencies.
Sanchez said the plan addresses natural disasters, although she later mentioned shooting scenarios in the plan. Sanchez said the plan is good for five years. Sanchez said the plan has been approved by FEMA, therefore no more input may be taken from local municipalities.
She asked that the Village, over the next five years, insert the Powey Dam into the plan, since no FEMA funding is given unless it is in the plan.
•Trustees approved the hiring of a village clerk, Linda Bauer.
•Trustees approved using the 611 Del Rio building for village storage. The building had been rented over years past, “but since it’s so hard to rent,” it will be put to this new purpose, voted the board.
