INTERSTATE LANDING – TriState Careflight landed their helicopter on Interstate 25 near Milepost 68 Monday afternoon, April 9, to fly an injured driver to an area hospital. I-25 was completely shut down to northbound traffic for about 30 minutes, while emergency responders extracted the driver from his crashed RV and loaded him into the helicopter. The driver of the RV reportedly pulled over along Interstate 25. The driver stated that he was in the back of the RV when the vehicle apparently experienced a mechanical failure, and the large vehicle slid down a steep embankment east of I-25, and crashed into the side of a hill. The driver sustained significant injuries, and was carried uphill by firefighters, EMS personnel and law enforcement. From there he was loaded into a TriState CareFlight helicopter and flown to an area hospital.
