Semi Fire

Firefighters with the Truth or Consequences Fire Department and officials with the Sierra County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle fire near Milepost 81 just north of the city along Interstate 25 at 3:05 a.m., Monday, April 16. Firefighters arrived on scene within 10 minutes and quickly extinguished flames burning a semi. The driver of the truck successfully unloaded his trailer and pulled away from the trailer full of corn he was hauling. The fire reportedly ignited due to the truck’s brakes overheating. Firefighters were on scene until 3:51 a.m. The driver and two occupants were put up in a local lodging establishment.
