Hot Springs High School found points hard to come by during the Deming Invitational Track & Field Meet held Friday, April 13, with several of their “key” athletes not participating due to conflict in scheduling.
The Tiger boys scored a total of 22 points for a ninth place finish in the 11-team field, and the girls finished in last place with four points in a field of 10 teams.
Kaitlyn Pierson scored the only points for the Tiger girls, as she captured second place, clearing the bar at 4’8”. The winning jump was 5’0”.
Owen Harrison led the Tiger boys in scoring, placing second in the 200- and 100-meter races, respectively. Harrison had a time of 23.9 in the 200-meter behind the winning time of 23.1, and in the 100-meter had a time of 11.2 behind the winning time of 11.08.
Harrison also placed third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’8” behind the winning jump of 6’0” and in the long jump, Harrison finished sixth with his best ever effort of 19’0”. The winning jump was 20’1.5”.
Zerod Underwood cleared the bar at 10-feet even for a fifth place finish behind with winning jump of 11’0”.
The boys 4×200-meter relay placed sixth with a time of 1:57.74. The relay team consisted of Isaac Grijalva,
Tait Apodaca, Logan Sailley and Tyler Slaven. Winning time for the event was 1:33.74.
