A 57-year-old Albuquerque woman is facing a charge of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after she was shown to be more than three times over New Mexico’s presumed level of intoxication.
On Sunday afternoon, May 6, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Truth or Consequences Police Officer Levi Wrye noticed a white pickup pull out of a convenience store on East Third Street, and the driver immediately beginning to drive erratically – crossing over the shoulder line and nearly crossing the center stripe.
In his statement of probable cause filed in Sierra County Magistrate Court, Officer Wrye states that he conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Magnolia and Second streets. As Officer Wrye approached the vehicle’s driver, identified as 57-year-old Donna Sutherland of Albuquerque, the officer states that he detected the presence of alcohol emitting from the driver.
When asked if she had been drinking, Ms. Sutherland reportedly admitted to the officer that she had, “but only a little bit.”
