The Herald has learned Brad Bailey, a longtime southwestern New Mexico educator and coach, has been named the Hot Springs varsity boys basketball head coach.
Bailey, 57, currently works as a guidance counselor at San Andreas High, an alternative school within Las Cruces Public Schools.
A native of New Carlisle, Ohio, near Dayton, Bailey got his varsity basketball head coaching start in 1986 as the skipper of the boys program at Clifton High in eastern Arizona.
Bailey is familiar with the District 3-3A basketball landscape, having served as an assistant under former Hatch Valley varsity boys basketball head coach Claude Gobble in 2005-‘06.
Bailey was named the girls varsity basketball head coach for Hatch Valley midway through the season in January 2007. The following season (2008), the Lady Bears won the district championship and finished as runners up the next season (2009).
