By Carlos Padilla

Two local men are in the Sierra County Detention Center, facing three criminal counts each.

In his criminal complaint filed in Sierra County Magistrate Court on Friday, Aug. 1, Truth or Consequences Police Department (TCPD) Detective James Harrington identifies the two men as 28-year-old Byron Lucero of Elephant Butte and 20-year-old Danny Price of Truth or Consequences, and details the events that led to their arrests.

Price has been charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of children (manufacturing), fourth-degree child solicitation by electronic device, and fourth-degree sexual exploitation of children (possession). Lucero has been charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of children (manufacturing), third-degree child solicitation by electronic device and third-degree extortion.

The court document includes information beginning on Wednesday, July 2, when TCPD Officer Andrew Laux informed Detective Harrington of a conversation he had with a Truth or Consequences woman. The woman reported that a man, later identified as Mr. Lucero, was sending inappropriate photos to her 14-year-old daughter, utilizing a Kik phone messaging application. The messages reportedly included a facial photo of Lucero in the upper corner of each photo.

When Detective Harrington reviewed the thread of messages sent between Lucero and the teenage girl, he states in the court document that he recognized Lucero. The thread reportedly contained several photos from Lucero, including a naked photo reflected in a mirror and including a black cell phone that appeared to be the same cell phone obtained by Lucero when he was subsequently arrested.
