A 31-year-old Truth or Consequences man operating a motorcycle sustained injuries sufficient to send him to the hospital Saturday evening, Aug. 9, at the intersection of State Highway 181 and State Highway 171, otherwise known as Warm Springs Boulevard.
According to officials, the 31-year-old man was operating a 2009 Buell 1125R motorcycle southbound on Highway 181 when he collided with a 1996 blue Chevrolet SUV in the height of a rainstorm.
Fire and EMS officials on scene stated that when they arrived on scene, the occupants of the SUV were sitting inside their vehicle due to the rain while the injured motorcyclist lied on the ground.
Citations are pending against the 33-year-old driver of the SUV, who reportedly resides in Cliff, N.M. The pending citation is for the driver failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. The occupants of the SUV reportedly stated that they did not see the motorcycle.
Information relayed to The Herald indicates that the motorcycle operator, whose identity isn’t being released at this time, is scheduled for five surgeries due to several broken bones he sustained in the collision.
