Motorists who usually utilize the bridge that spans Interstate 25 at Exit 79 on the north side of Truth or Consequences will have to make alternate plans Monday, Oct. 13. On that date, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the bridge will be closed.
What that means is that southbound traffic on I-25 will be forced to access the city either at Exit 83 – the Elephant Butte exit – and taking State Highway 181 southbound into Truth or Consequences, or by traveling further south to Exit 71 – the Williamsburg exit – using Business Loop 25.
Travelers looking to access southbound I-25 from Truth or Consequences are advised to use Exit 75.
Information regarding the time that the bridgework will begin on Oct. 13, was not immediately available Monday, Oct. 6. Nor was information as to the project’s expected duration.
Updates regarding this project will be posted during the week on The Herald’s Facebook page and website (www.theheraldtorc.com).
