Saturday, Oct. 4, was a beautiful day for a walk. Sierra County Cancer Assistance (SCCA) started their walk at Ralph Edwards Park, and went through downtown Truth or Consequences. Thirty-three local businesses participated, and we had approximately 90 walkers enjoy the day, visit our local shops, and drop off incredible donations to help our local nonprofit charity.
SCCA cannot thank our sponsors and walkers enough for their incredible support and donations to our local cause. We had survivors, those living through cancer now, supporters, volunteers, students from our schools, and families who lost a member of their family to cancer, participate and honor those lost and survived. Bullocks supplied water along the way, and R&C Sumthin’s did a beautiful cake, honoring all touched by cancer. So many to thank.
Our grand prize winner for most miles walked was Caleb Baybayan, who walked and ran over 25 miles. On the way, he collected many donations from our local businesses. Thank you, Caleb, you are a champion to our community.
