Authorities were called to a home in the 600-block of Lincoln Street in Truth or Consequences just before 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 13, regarding a report of a man who had been stabbed.
Sierra Vista Hospital EMS was placed on standby while officials with the Truth or Consequences Police Department (TCPD) and Sierra County Sheriff’s Department secured the scene.
Initially, a man was placed in investigative custody for the safety of the First Responders as well as the safety of the unidentified male. The man reportedly told officials that his girlfriend attacked him with a knife, and lifted his shirt to reveal several wounds.
TCPD Sgt. Ted Ontiveros told The Herald Monday afternoon that the girlfriend – identified as 27-year-old Taunya Padilla – was taken into custody.
According to online records from the Sierra County Detention Center, Ms. Padilla has been charged with aggravated battery against a household member.
