The organizers of the annual Shop With a Cop fundraiser to assist local children in need at Christmastime are in full swing, hoping to raise money for this year’s event.

A costume optional Halloween Bash will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Truth or Consequences Civic Center, beginning at 8 p.m., until midnight.

A cash bar will be provided by Bullock’s liquor department, and the Cactus Flats will perform music live in the Civic Center. In addition, appetizers and finger foods – food that can be eaten with your fingers, not actual fingers (despite this being Halloween-themed) will be served throughout the evening.

All proceeds will go directly to Shop With a Cop, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Walmart. Walmart has donated some of the finger foods and typically donates a mountain of items to this wonderful cause.

Silent auction items have already been donated by various businesses locally as well as local residents.

The cost of admission is $25 per couple or a single ticket will cost you $15. Tickets are available at the Truth or Consequences Police Department, the Seventh Judicial District Attorney’s Office, by contacting TCPD Sgt. Erica Baker or at the door on the night of the event.

The community is encouraged to come show their support of this wonderful event.

Members of the local police department, the Truth or Consequences Fire Department and the Sierra County Regional Dispatch Authority will be handing out candy this year during Halloween festivities downtown, at The Charles Motel. Dispatchers, firefighters and law enforcement officials have donated their personal money to purchase candy.
