EB Receives Resignations from SJOA Representatives

As of Tuesday, Oct. 14, the City of Elephant Butte had received resignations for both of its representatives on the Board of Directors for the Sierra Joint Office on Aging (SJOA).

Mayor Eunice Kent reported to the city council that she had received resignation letters from Lara Kuper, whom served as chairperson, and Monte Nelson, whom served as treasurer.

In light of the recent issues and concerns for the action and qualifications of the directors, Mayor Kent recommended Patsy Barnett as replacement for Nelson. Kent qualified that Barnett has extensive knowledge and experience with many areas that the Board of Directors is in desperate need off, including working knowledge of governing boards, experience with the Open Meeting’s Act, nonprofit financing, and developing bylaws, to list a few.
