On paper, the Hot Springs varsity volleyball team’s scheduled matches against District 3-3A leaders Hatch Valley at home and Silver on the road appeared daunting.
It played out that way on the court, too, as Hatch Valley defeated HSHS 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-20) on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Tiger Gym.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, host Silver easily handled the Tigers for the second time this season – the first a non-district contest – winning 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-17).
Including a 3-1 loss at Cobre the week prior, Hot Springs (10-6, 1-4) is on a three-match losing skid, and looking to rebound against visiting Socorro on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Tiger Gym (C-Team 4 p.m., junior varsity 5 p.m., varsity 6 p.m.).
The Warriors are winless in league play, including a 3-0 loss to the visiting Tigers on Oct. 7.
A win over Socorro (2-14, 0-5) would reestablish momentum for Hot Springs, which will host Cobre (6-9, 2-2) on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Tiger Gym.
